What makes Sophie the Giraffe such a success? She is the safest toy for your baby and stimulates each of your child’s five senses from the age of three months:
At three months, a baby’s eyesight is still limited and can only distinguish between strong contrasts. The attention-grabbing spots all over Sophie’s body provide visual stimulation and she soon becomes a familiar and reassuring object for your baby.
Sophie squeaks when pressed, keeping your baby amused and stimulating his hearing. In later months, this helps your baby understand the link between cause and effect.
Sophie is made of 100% natural rubber and food quality paint and is completely safe to chew, just like a feeding bottle teat.
Her soft texture and numerous chewable parts (ears, horns, legs, etc.) make her perfect for soothing your baby’s sore gums during teething.
The scent of natural rubber makes Sophie very special and easy for your baby to identify amongst other toys.
Easy to grip:
Sophie’s shape and size are perfect for your baby’s small hands. She is very light and her long neck and legs are easy to grip, even from his earliest days.
Sophie is handmade in France with 100% natural rubber and food quality paint.
She is BPA- and phthalates free and completely safe for your baby.
She comes packaged in an attractive gift box with a blank card to personalise included.
The rubber used to make Sophie comes from the Hevea tree (a rubber tree) that grows in Malaysia. Every morning, before the daytime heat sets in, the milky liquid that oozes from the cells beneath the tree’s bark is collected. This liquid is known as latex.
Latex is natural, elastic, pleasant to touch and smells good. This latex is heated and a special rotational moulding technique is applied. The result, after 14 manual operations, is the wonderful little Sophie the Giraffe.
Sophie was conceived by a Monsieur Rampeau. He had the idea to create a toy giraffe, sensing that such an exotic animal would be a success on the market. Its size and shape would be ideal to grasp and to chew.
Sophie the Giraffe, who looks exactly the same as the day she was first made, went into production on May 25th, Saint Sophie’s day, hence her name.
Sophie was an immediate success. Young mothers saw straight away that Sophie was a must-have for their babies. When the first signs of teething appear, Sophie helps babies to stop crying!
By word of mouth, the little Giraffe’s fame spread and the toy is now legendary. Since then generation upon generation of children grew to love hearing Sophie squeak whenever they pressed her tummy or head.
She is an undisputed star amongst the very young!
